Before I show the trailer, let me tell you this.
I didn’t like the first movie that Burton made with the Alice In Wonderland universe.
It didn’t really do much for me.
All it did was take from the book and put it on screen in an uninspired way.
It felt like a Tim Burton movie with Alice In Wonderland characters.
Having said that, here is the trailer for Alice Through The Looking Glass.
I don’t know.
Do you like it?
I am not really into it.
And I am confused on why another was even made.
Well, I mean, I know why another was made.
But I don’t understand why they would make another after how much I didn’t like the first.
Obviously the money made by this film is going to be greater than any criticism it may endure.
The film’s description: When Alice wakes up in Wonderland she must travel through a mysterious new world to retrieve a magical scepter that can stop the evil Lord of Time before he turns forward the clock and turns Wonderland into a barren, lifeless old world. With the help of some new friends, Alice must also uncover an evil plot to put the Queen of Hearts back on the throne.
1. So Alice is mad?
She is high the whole time?
I don’t know how I feel about that interpretation.
Was she high in the book?
I don’t recall her being.
Including that is a big deal in my eyes, since it changes how the audience looks at Alice.
She is the one with the problem as much as anyone else.
Also do you get what they did with the characters?
She is racing against time as she is being treated for medications.
This whole story may just be a story of a woman’s hallucinations while being treated.
So it is a dream.
2, Too Much Hatter
Last movie gave The Mad Hatter too much scene time because Johnny Depp was the actor portraying him.
I am not happy that they made the hatter so vital to the story.
First off, I didn’t like the character in the first movie.
And I don’t ever remember the character having a large role in the original story line.
Because that stupid dance wasn’t enough.
We all asked for more of the Hatter.
3. Oh wow more characters I didn’t really like.
The White Queen is awful.
The other characters in the movie are awful.
The only character I liked in the original was the rabbit from the Tea Party
And he is stuck in one place for this movie!
4. Was the Cheshire Cat in the water?
That one scene was as weird as anything I ever saw in Alice In Wonderland.
The Cheshire Cat’s face appear on the wave in the ocean.
At least they didn’t change that character too much.
5. When will the movies acknowledge the odd attraction we all have to Alice In Wonderland?
Come on, it is about time that Alice In Wonderland becomes self-aware of its popularity.
This whole story is just plain odd by itself.
It is out there.
There is no other way of putting it.
With the tea party, the queen, Alice.
This whole trip.
But can one movie with these characters, at least become somewhat aware of its own success?
Like it knows that the audience knows who Alice is.
Like we all know a bunch of the characters already.
This story has taken on a life of its own.
From Alice to The Mad Hatter to the other characters and parts of the story.
The movie should at least present itself for knowing that.
GOING BASED ON THE TRAILER?
Maybe. If I am high and nothing else is out that weekend, then this movie will do. Yeah, drugs will be essential for me to like this movie.
REMINDS ME OF:
Spiderman 3. Not because the material is the same. It isn’t obviously. But I think that like that movie this one will be panned by everyone. Sure it may make a lot of money, but I don’t think this movie will get any critical success.
LAST CALL FOR A GREAT ACTOR
This is the last movie that Alan Rickman will be credited for being in.
He is the voice of The Caterpillar.
So even though he died a little while ago he is still in this movie.
If you enjoyed him as an actor, then you may want to see this movie, just because you won’t get another chance after this one.
He was certainly a great actor and will be missed.
